Moszkowski was raised by musicians and began learning music at home. Later
he studied the piano under Théodor Kullak in Berlin. In 1873, he met
with his first success as a pianist, which led him to travel to Poland in
order to gain experience and notoriety. In 1875, Moszkowski published his
first compositions, including the first Danses Espagnoles which launched his
reputation. Franz Liszt himself even came to accompany Moszkowski on a second
piano during a performance. Moszkowski was not only a good pianist but also
a good violinist. He often performed as the first violin in different orchestras
and composed an excellent Concerto for violin.
